What is welding torch?

The welding torch is one of the main equipment for hot air welding. It consists of heating elements, nozzles, etc. According to its structure, it can be divided into gas welding torch, electric welding torch, rapid welding torch and automatic welding torch. The gas welding torch uses the combustion of a combustible gas (a mixture of hydrogen or acetylene and air) to heat the coil so that the compressed air fed into the coil is heated to the required temperature. The amount of air fed in or out is regulated by a cock. The heating device of the electric welding torch is composed of a ceramic grooved tube and an electric heating wire in it. The speed of welding can vary depending on the nozzle configuration. The fast welding gun is made by improving the structure of the welding gun nozzle.
The welding gun is used to hold the stud, lift the stud (ignite the arc), press the stud down, and transmit the welding current. The welding torch accessories also have a support frame to ensure that the stud is perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece. When the diameter of the stud changes, it is necessary to replace the stud chuck with the corresponding diameter, and adjust the extension length of the connecting rod between the support frame and the welding gun body. Accommodates studs of different lengths. The action of lifting and pressing the electrode (stud) of the welding gun is completed by three main components: electromagnetic coil, iron core and spring.
The torches used for gas-shielded flux-cored arc welding are similar to those used for gas-shielded arc welding. There are a variety of specifications, ratings, styles, suitable for automatic and semi-automatic welding torches, air-cooled and water-cooled. Although the shielding gas is very cool when passing through the welding torch, it has a cooling effect on the welding torch, but the air-cooled welding torch relies on heat to be dissipated in the surrounding air for cooling. The welding torch is mainly selected according to the welding current and the shielding gas used. For currents of 500 amps or more, water-cooled torches are generally used. When the welding current used is less than 500A, some welders still prefer water-cooled torches.
